Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is one of the most effective tools for rehabilitation. This type of therapy works by exploring an individual’s values, interests, resources, strengths, and challenges to establish a new healthy and meaningful lifestyle. It has proven to be very useful in helping individuals restore their skills and abilities and find new, constructive ways to spend their time and resume their life roles in the community. Our Occupational Therapy team works across the centre, both inpatient and outpatient, providing assessment and intervention services and contributing to the treatment planning process with the multidisciplinary team. Occupational Therapy also works with non-clinical departments in Naufar to help facilitate patient’s re-integration into the community (e.g. education, employment, and volunteering), and equip them with necessary coping and life skills to navigate their community while in recovery.

Movement and Kinesiology

The Movement and Kinesiology department assesses the movement, performance, and function of patients. They may work with other practitioners to co-create treatment programs which make use of clinically based exercise programs to rehabilitate the patient’s mobility or enhance movement.

Addiction Counselling

Addiction Counselling provides patients with a resourceful judgement-free space where they can discuss their substance use. Through attentiveness, empathy, and open communication, our counsellors seek to address all the foundational issues that may be at play in the path to recovery.

Social Work

Expressive Art Therapy

Expressive Art Psychotherapy (EAP) integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative artistic process to improve mental health and well-being. The goal of art therapy is to utilise the creative process to help people explore and express their feelings, emotions, and thoughts. In doing so, participants could find new ways to gain personal insight, boosting self-esteem, develop new coping skills and learning new social skills.

Our methods of EAP intervention include:

  • Drawing, painting, and colouring
  • Visual creation and handmade (sculpting, clay, collage, photography)
  • Drama therapy / Psychodrama
  • Music therapy
  • Writing therapy
  • Dance therapy

Participants in EAP do not need to have artistic ability or special talent, and people of all ages can benefit from it.

Spiritual Counselling

“Strengthening the patient’s connection with Allah and that Allah is with him in good and bad, only then he feels serenity and psychological relief, which helps him in his recovery and rehabilitation journey”.

The Spiritual Counselling Programme is designed to help our patients reconnect with their spirituality. Connecting with the elements of spirituality can re-establish positive feelings like hope, faith, and determination that are usually lost through addiction. By focusing on the spiritual aspect, we work to rehabilitate our patients’ mind, body, and soul.

Family and Youth Programmes

Family can play an important role to help support the individual’s journey of recovery from addiction. Individuals can find Systemic Family Therapy helpful, as an opportunity to reflect on important relationships. Systemic Family and Couple Psychotherapy helps people in close relationships connect. It enables family members, couples and others who care about each other, to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives.
